YIKES

This button was being sold last weekend at the Republican state convention in Texas. The irony of it is these buttons were being sold while Republican leaders like Mike Huckabee were praising Barack Obama’s nomination for president as proof that color barriers are being broken. MY TAKE: Sadly, there are way too many Americans who still insist on being closed-minded bigots. Unfortunately, it’s everywhere.

I wish it weren’t true either. It is everywhere and on both sides and will probably never change.
    Follow me on this…
Please note this statement on republican market’s website-
“We are not affiliated with the RNC - the RNC Elephant is property of RNC.”

    Then we have this-

But Obama’s campaign denies this being policy.
    Then this-
[url]http://www.outsidethebeltway.com/archives/2008/02/obama_che_guevara_flag_scandal/[url] at the Houston campaign headquarters- Obama’s response? We can’t control individuals working/ volunteering for our campaign.
and this- perhaps the most damning of all…

Obama urged people not to reject him because of guilt by association.

I guess my point is if we (society and the media at large) are willing to ignore the ugly cousin at one family get together then let’s ignore the ugly cousin at the other side of the family’s get together.
As long as any group of people use race in an disagreement- whether it be to attempt to insult the other race or to use one’s own race to advance their cause then sadly it’s going to be a factor and probably will be even when our kids are grown.
